Behind In My Blog Reading
I've missed reading all your blogs for the last few days. Blog reading is good for my mind and good for my blood pressure. I'm supposed to be monitoring my blood pressure and guess what - if I take it right after reading your blogs I'm always in the "optimal" zone!
And in other health related news....I had an acupuncture appointment Friday in a last ditch effort to keep my gallbladder. I didn't have much hope it would work but at $85 for the hour it was worth a try.
The night before I checked an acupuncture site and couldn't believe the diagram showing all the places they would put needles. Now I know that diagram was correct!
The first half hour I was on my back with a heat lamp on my feet as she put the needles in. There was no pain and no bad sensations. She started removing them at the end of a half hour and then had me turn over (like a stuck pig) and she started needles on my back - some in the scalp and shoulder area. At the end of the session I rested on the table for about 5 minutes and almost went to sleep I was so relaxed.
I still have some small "travel" pins in several places that are half the size of the others and held in place by tape. They stay on until I see her again this Friday. I was told I might feel very tired for a day or have a burst of energy. Well I'm here to tell you I haven't had so much energy in years! I cleaned and tossed stuff all weekend. When I walked the dog on Saturday I had an incredible sense of well being. There were also immediate changes in physical symptoms. I'm not sure if it's the "placebo" effect and all in my head but I don't think so...

Acupuncture is great! The only place where I find it really hurts is when they stick needles in your earlobes. That's how I quit smoking, years ago. But it's important to have a really competent acupunctur...ist???, there ARE quacks around.
Good luck with your gall bladder. Hope this works, or at least delays the need for surgery.

Claude - She's really good - been doing it for 25 years and her business is all based on referrals - she doesn't advertise. Several people at work go to her so I felt comfortable that she was reputable.

I've been tempted to try acupuncture to help my back. I know several people who have said it does help. But, haven't been able to bring myself to do it.
I've never had acupuncture, but I've always wondered about it. Several friends have done it and said it worked wonders for them. I love the burst of energy you got...I know I could use that at times. I'm amazed that by placing needles in strategic places...you can feel so much better. Good luck SAZ with your gall bladder. I had mine out about 19 years ago.
My husband always likes going to the accupuncturist. He says it's like "taking the fluff off the needle". Everything is just a little sharper.
I may try it sometime. Just have to find somewhere within driving distance of Whitelees.
I have never tried acupuncture but so far (knock on wood) I have been healthy enough to not need much in the way of medical care. I would have to admit to being a skeptic as I really can't see how sticking needles in my can fix actual physical problems.
Gwyn is cute and a nice size pup to have. I have heard that having a dog is a good way to get exercise as they need to be walked daily. Even if it is raining.
I think I'll just keep the needles in my sewing machine for now. I really hope this works for you. I've heard it can do amazing things.
well, susan, this description almost makes me want to try acupuncture again. when i did a number of years ago, decided there was a "true believer" characteristic that i was missing. sounds as if it is working for you...here's hoping!
I hope it works for you. As for me, I have enough needles in my life - insulin, you know. And, being stuck with one twice a day does nothing for my energy level or my mood, for that matter. LOL
Hope the acupuncture works for you. A friend of mine successfully rid herself of some hip problems this way.

I have a friend who swears by acupuncture. She said it doesn't hurt either, so maybe one of these days I'll try it out, too. I sure would love a burst of energy.
BTW, I had my gall bladder taken out a few years ago. The worse part was getting over the anaeth, aneth, that stuff that knocks you out. If you do have to go through the procedure, it's simple and the recovery is pretty quick.

I had a roommate in college who had to have her gall bladder removed. She never tried acupuncture (sounds like she should have) but she did try some chinese medicine tea or something that made her throw up for a few days. I don't think that worked at all.

Even with shadows, the back to school photo is fun. We used to have a family in town that wrote festive holiday signs like Happy Thanksgiving with styrofoam cups in their chain link. The family lived along a busy street so passersby could read the messages. Maybe not aesthetic, but these holiday greetings were cheery. I anticipated a new one for each season. The folks must have moved as the fence has been without greetings these past few years.

A few years ago, I strained my back. So I sometimes go to acupuncture clinic near my house.
Acupuncture clinic's doctor help me. It is 5000Yen per one hour. Unfortunately, acupuncture clinics don’t accept health insurances in Japan.
Interesting. My wife has just started a course of acupuncture to try and help with the pain of a serious internal disorder. She has had three sessions and seems to be getting some relief. Cost here in the UK about $58 per hour.
Gwyn is darling. I wish you all the best with the acupuncture. My husband had it done for several years until the person who did it for him moved away. It really did help him. I never figured out why he didn't just find someone else.

I hope the acupuncture helps you. I went to an acupuncturist about 12 years ago, and he prescribed that I get a dog! I did, and I don't even remember why I went to him, but I am very pleased with the outcome.
